This work is my first shot at a fish, a European Perch in particular. I somehow managed to hang him in the perfect spot from my ceiling so that he was caught in a draft and therefore he always seemed to be swimming. He's moved to a new home since then (with cats too- I hope he survives) and the new owners are super happy to have him. He turned out really great and I think you can really visualize the shape of the fish.
This photo shoot was interesting in particular because of the back drop that we had to work with, in this case, pull down window blinds. Turns out these blinds let us take really good quality pictures- who knew... And as Erik commented on, the shadows in some of the shots really give you a sense that there is depth in the frame such as it would be in water.
These last two shots for fun ones. I worked with what I had, so that's why the back drop is just a lot of blue sheets stuck together. The seaweed turned out cute though.
I also really tried to make the fish move in a fishy way, which was a little bit of a challenge. I wanted his tail fin to be able to move easily without it messing up the rest of him. I may tweak the design in a future Perch. Another interesting bit to work with was his top two fins, which I had to put extra loops in to keep them straight. I don't think it takes away from the overall fish. Added to the list of ideas- more sea life!
