WIRE IN THE CITY'S MISSION

Here at Wire in the City we are passionate about designing and producing modern, statement mobiles which are based off of critters and creatures. Our mission is to enhance people's lives by bringing energy, movement, and above all, enjoyment to otherwise static spaces.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello there! My name is Barrett Sauter and I design and make all of the lovely mobiles on this site.

I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and I have always  been an avid art  lover and creator. I distinctly remember making my first set of mobiles  when I was only ten. My materials included a hodgepodge of pencils and glow-in-the-dark stars and planets. I would carefully suspend the stars from the pencils layer by layer, which would then produce a simple mobile. And voila! I had my own moving planetary system when the lights went out.

Fast forward a couple of years to high school. I was lucky enough to have an amazing art teacher who allowed me stand on my desk and work on my mobiles hanging from the ceiling. I would later go on to produce a 13 piece collection for the senior art show. One of my pieces, a 13ft wire dragon, was even mistaken for a permanent piece at the gallery.

In 2010 I moved to Sweden due to various circumstances and in 2013 I started my five year long Masters of Industrial Engineering program.  Not only do I sneak  mobiles in to various projects at every chance I get, but I am also constantly learning new machinery, skills and techniques which I can use to develop my art.

Thankyou for stopping by!
