This museum exhibition at the Västerås Konstmuseum was A LOT of fun. The showing included multiple artists, with the theme being interactivity, which meant that all of the pieces could be played with and interacted with in some way. The two pieces which really struck a chord with me were the giant walk through ribbon installation and the very colourful, surreal wrapped wood installation.
The giant ribbon installation was such a joy to experience. You can't help but feel like the kid in the last picture when walking/skipping through it. When you first walk into the ribbon forest, you are suddenly met with darkness in the inner parts, and you can't really see anything. However, all you hear is laughter from the other kids and people who are also inside this ribbon forest. And then when you finally exit, you have many ribbons trailing off of you. I even lost my friend in there!
The other piece, the very colourful, very weird piece was also interesting to experience. At first, you don't really know what you're looking at (however I had done my homework, and watched a video beforehand explaining the story behind it, so I did sort of know what I was looking at). Everything in that piece is joined together by wrapping fabric and then thread around it. And as far as my knowledge goes, the multiple wrappings of thread is the main support of the shapes which jut out of the ground and into the ceiling. It almost creates the scene for a fantastical environment, where the Mad Hatter is about to step out and ask you for tea. This felt very fresh and it was something I had never seen before, nor had it crossed my mind that something like this could be art. Yet here I found myself again, appreciating something completely surprising and new. That's why I'll always continue to enjoy museum going, and hope to be caught off guard by more.
Also, here you can check out a short vid of the day.
